WATCH: Virtual NYSFOLA – WNY Region Annual Conference

The NYSFOLA Virtual Conference, which was recorded on Saturday, October 24, 2020, is now available for streaming.


This conference, hosted on the platform featured 3 sessions, one of which is related to the toxicity of HABs on Chautauqua Lake. The first two sessions discussed topics pertaining to foam on lakes and how climate change is affecting waterbodies.

1st Presentation: “Chemically Fingerprinting the Source of Foam on Canandaigua Lake” By Dr. Richard W. Smith and Dr. Stella C. Woodard, Global Aquatic Research 10:20 to 10:50 pm

2nd Presentation: “The Future Climate of New York State: Will All Regions Be Affected the Same” By Dr. Mark Wysocki, Senior Lecturer in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Cornell University

3rd Presentation: “Harmful Algal Blooms in Chautauqua Lake” Chautauqua Lake Association and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry

Each presentation will be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for questions and answers.
