MONDAY MEMO: Chautauqua Lake Conditions Look Strong Heading Into 4th of July

In a June 29 update from the County Executive’s office, officials confirmed that Chautauqua Lake conditions are looking strong heading into the holiday weekend. County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. recently joined CLA General Manager Heather Nolan-Caskey for the second Chautauqua Lake Boat Tour of 2026, touring the full lake to check conditions as the busy summer season gets underway. The takeaway was a good one: areas like Burtis Bay, which saw heavy vegetation growth last summer, are showing a dramatic improvement this year, with crews getting ahead of problem areas through early-season harvesting.
