Pre-Season Work Continues as Harvesters Launched to Address Curly Leaf Pondweed

(LAKEWOOD, NY) — Chautauqua Lake Association Executive Director Doug Conroe reports that the CLA staff is launching four harvesters to address early growth curly leaf pondweed plant nuisance conditions.

Conroe commented that “We are thankful to the foundations that provided the funding which allows this pre-season work to move forward.  Although only present for a short amount of time the curly leaf pondweed can clog navigation channels. Our crews will be concentrating on keeping those channels open, especially at the south end of the lake and in the narrows that are between the bridge and the ferry.”

Four harvesters and two transport vessels are being launched.  Two large capacity dump trucks are also being placed in service.
