Contest will run between February and April. All online guesses must be submitted by midnight on XXX. All offline guesses (checks with forms) must be sent in envelopes postmarked by XXX. Note: Winner will be for 1st ice out date beginning March 14th. If the ice is out prior to March 14th, as evidenced by the tripod sinking into the water, the contest will carry over, guesses intact, to 2016.
All proceeds, less expenses, will be turned over to CLA (Chautauqua Lake Association) to help clean and protect our area’s natural asset.
The more participation we have this year, the greater the size of the jackpot!
- The Winner will receive 25% of the entire jackpot! – This could be $1000.00 to $5000.00 or more!
- The next five closest guesses will each receive 5% of the entire jackpot! – This could be $100.00 to $1000.00 or more!
- The Chautauqua Lake Association will receive 50% of the entire jackpot!
Whoever guesses the closest date and time (to the minute) when the tripod’s sensor submerges into the lake will be declared the winner. Each guess requires a $5 donation and can be made via credit card or by sending a check. Multiple guesses are encouraged to increase your odds of winning!
The Ice Pick itself consists of four stabilizer feet and a center pole or “pick.” For the Ice Pick to be officially declared submerged, all four feet of the quadripod will be fully submerged. The Ice Pick will not be declared having fallen through the ice until the moment the fourth foot is through the ice and in the lake.
