The Final Report for the 2021 Lake Maintenance Program

In the 2021 season, CLA crews were actively in the water for 21 weeks and removed just under 7,000 tons of aquatic vegetation this summer. There were also three large debris clean-ups during those 21 weeks and 79 largetruckloads of woody debris was removed from Chautauqua Lake. The heat map above shows activity of all CLA crews. The greater the intensity, the more time CLA spent in that area. 2021 Summer Lake Cleanup Totals

Chautauqua Lake Association Reports on Lake Maintenance Achievements and Challenges for the Summer 2021 Season Lakewood, NY —The Chautauqua Lake Association has removed an estimated 12.14 million pounds of vegetation and debris from Chautauqua Lake in 2021. Of that total, 2.34 million pounds was contributed by Town of Chautauqua’s mobi-trac skimmers. Harvesting and shore cleanup will continue at a limited capacity through September as the fleet makes the return trip to the association’s Lakewood facility. This year, the CLA’s lake cleanup initiative kicked off in May with debris cleanup followed by an early June Curly leaf pondweed harvesting operation.…

The Final Report for 2020 Lake Maintenance Program

In the 2020 season, CLA ran five harvesters actively working from three locations plus shore crews in each location. These crews worked extremely hard to meet lake needs; clearing the waterways for safe, pleasurable boating and lake activities. 650.5 large truckloads = 6,505 tons, or 13,010,000 pounds of nuisance aquatic vegetation was removed along with over 37,000 pounds of nutrients from Chautauqua Lake by the CLA crews this season.
