Annual Light The Lake Event Set for July 4 at 10pm On July 4 at 10 p.m., lakefront residents are asked to light their flares in an attempt to outline the entirety of Chautauqua Lake. Flares are $3 each and last for 30 minutes. Official lighting time is 10 p.m., and the proceeds from the flare sale benefit our summer in-lake services. Flares may be purchased at the following locations: Ashville General Store, Bemus Point Market, Chautauqua Marina, Peterson’s Farm, Hogan’s Hut, Lighthouse Point Grocery, Olde Corner Deli, Bridgeview One Stop, ROBO on 430, Lakewood Mobil Mart, Smith Boys, Chautauqua Brick Bemus Point, Stewart’s Hardware, TOPS Mayville, TOPS Jamestown, and Wegman’s. This year both Mayville and Bemus Point are scheduled to start fireworks displays at 10 p.m. on July 4.…

Chautauqua Fishing Association Presents Check to CLA President Lakewood, NY — The Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association (CFLA) recently presented a check for $2,000 to the Chautauqua Lake Association (CLA) to help with annual operational expenses. The CLFA has been an annual supporter of the CLA’s mission to keep the lake healthy and clean since 2006. To date, the Chautauqua Lake Fishing Association has contributed over $50,000 to the CLA. “We treasure having a close working relationship with the Fishing Association and all of the various fishery organizations,” said Douglas Conroe, CLA Executive Director. “Protecting fishery habitat is an important part of lake management that must always be taken into consideration. (Lakewood, NY) The CHQ Lake Ice Pick officially fell on March 20th, 2021 at 2:52:16 pm We had almost 250 guesses and 19 of those predictions were for March 20th! The last ( ... and only ) time the pick fell through on this day was in 2010. This year, Chautauqua Lake Ice Pick was placed on the ice on February 4 and the polls opened on February 5. 2020 Dragon Boat Event Rescheduled The Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Committee is saddened to announce that the 2020 Event has been postponed due to COVID-19. This community fundraising event, created for the benefit of local organizations including the Chautauqua Lake Association, will be held on August 14, 2021, at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron, NY. "We feel it is in the best interest for all involved to reschedule this year's Dragon Boat event. Safety is our top priority," said Heather Nolan-Caskey, Dragon Boat Committee Chair. As event organizers look ahead to next year's event, Nolan-Caskey shares hope that the event will be bigger and better than ever before.
