Regular Season Week #1 Work Plan This week we will begin our regular season work with harvesting and near shore crews. Because of the need for service in the lower and mid lake areas we will not yet be moving to our Mayville location. Instead, we will work out of both Lakewood and Long Point with 3 harvesters plus shore crews. Many of our barge crew members are finishing up school this week so shore crews will not be in full strength until next week when school is out.  Lakewood harvesters will continue north through Sherman’s Bay along the west shore to Ashville Bay. This week will continue our route around the lake focusing on problematic curly leaf areas. Lakewood crew will continue north along the west shore to Ashville. The remaining new operators will be trained this week and will be working along the east shores of Fluvanna heading north to Greenhurst. After training is complete they will begin moving equipment to the Mid and North Lake crew locations for regular season which will begin on Monday, June 14. The Long Point crew will begin work on the east shore heading south from Shore acres to Arnolds Bay.  Please keep in mind these are not full summer crews. CLA’s Watercraft Steward Program Sees An Increase In Regional Lake Activity in 2020

Lakewood, NY — The Chautauqua Lake Association’s Watercraft Steward AIS Spread Prevention Program Reports show that there was a significant increase across the board in total surveys, interactions, and boats monitored by Stewards in 2020. The full reports are available to the public and can be downloaded here. From May through September of 2020, Stewards were active Friday through Monday at public launches on Chautauqua Lake, Cassadaga Lake, and at two Lake Erie harbors. There were 19,650 boats and 39,528 people seen by stewards in 2020, an increase of 9,753 boats and 19,727 people from 2019. Long Point was the busiest Chautauqua Lake launch in 2020 with 2,822 boats. Bemus and Mayville followed close behind with 2,390 and 2,385 boats respectively. The report shows that 85 percent of boaters took…

(Lakewood, NY) The CHQ Lake Ice Pick officially fell on March 20th, 2021 at 2:52:16 pm We had almost 250 guesses and 19 of those predictions were for March 20th! The last ( ... and only ) time the pick fell through on this day was in 2010. This year, Chautauqua Lake Ice Pick was placed on the ice on February 4 and the polls opened on February 5.
