After experiencing the warmest December on record and an up and down January people are conjecturing if nuisance plant growth conditions will worsen this summer due to a shorter ice coverage period and likely thinner ice coverage. Although no one can answer that question for certain we can say that our equipment will be ready to address whatever conditions result. CLA equipment will be ready due to your participation in our annual fund drive.
The Annual Business Sector Fund Drive occurs every winter and enables us to work during the winter to rehab the equipment from the previous season’s wear and tear impacts. To date two harvesters and two barges have been completely overhauled along with the 50 year old yard forklift that required engine and drive train work. All of this work has been completed in our shop with parts fabrication assistance from local tool and die shops. Four harvesters, three transports, and two barges remain in need of attention. This is where you come into the process by providing the funds to enable us to continue on with the necessary maintenance work.
We rely on the General Fund Drive and governmental support to fund our summer operations. Our summer operations can only occur if the equipment is ready. We rely on the Business Sector Fund Drive to fund our maintenance work. Maintenance is costly although by performing such in house we are able to save the community significant dollars which can then be applied to summer lake maintenance work and storm debris removal.
We ask that you invest in our stewardship of Chautauqua Lake. Your contribution assists us in enhancing the lake and your investment keeps Chautauqua Lake the jewel of this community. I thank you for your consideration and support.
Please spend some time browsing through our website. We welcome your input, both here and on our Facebook page.
