The use of herbicide is not new to the lake association.  The CLA implemented a large number of herbicide programs in the past.  The CLA has stayed current with herbicide technology through its participation in NYS Federation of Lakes Association conferences, its regular contacts with NYS Department of Environmental Conservation officials and its involvement with Racine-Johnson Aquatic Ecologists. After experiencing the coldest February on record in Chautauqua County, we are patiently waiting for the ice to melt. Perhaps by the time that this letter arrives, docks will be starting to be installed (or at least be in the process of being readied for installation)! Thankfully, our crew has been indoors all winter overhauling each piece of our equipment. We are ready to go, be it for early summer storm clean-up or for regular summer harvesting. Our contracts are in place for the annual summer scientific lake monitoring activities and we have everything ready to meet Chautauqua Lake’s harvesting needs, big or small. February 15-17, 2013 A series of three big-money/high-stakes events spread across the state of NY, where each event is split into three divisions: "Professional", "Amateur", and "Open", where the Pro and Am Divisions require each team to be skilled at targeting multiple fish species using multiple techniques on different waterways, while the Open Division is for those who like the standard derby format where the biggest fish wins. Those teams who fish two or more events in the "Professional" Division can enter the Triple Crown Challenge*, a calcutta event within the series that yields the coveted Triple Crown Trophy and deams the winning team members as the overall series champions!   Click here for more information or to register.
